Dr. Schneider was raised on a diversified livestock and row crop farm in SE Iowa.

He attended Black Hawk, East Campus and obtained his B.S. in Animal Science at Iowa State University in 2001. His M.S. degree was awarded from Oklahoma State University in 2003 where he studied the metabolizable energy value of different corn sources produced in the Midwest. In 2007, he completed his Ph.D. in Animal Science and Industry with an emphasis on monogastric nutrition from Kansas State University. His research focused on the effects of feeding frequency on growth and production of group housed gilts and sows. The results of that and other research projects have developed into over 12 publications including referred journal articles, scientific abstracts, popular press articles, and university reports.

After graduating, Dr. Schneider worked as an independent feed consultant to the swine industry. He is a member of the American Society of Animal Sciences.
