Dr. Hu received his Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from the University of Illinois in 2005. After obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Hu worked as a postdoctoral research associate for three years at the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at the University of Delaware. His research focused on dairy mineral nutrition, feed preservation and evaluation, and statistical modeling of nutrient requirements in dairy cows.

Prior to arriving in the U.S. to pursue his Ph.D., Dr. Hu completed his B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from universities in China, and then held a faculty position at a Chinese university for ten years. During his tenure, Dr. Hu conducted research projects studying the genetic diversity of indigenous pig breeds and its application to the pig breed conservation and utilization.

Dr. Hu has authored or co-authored over 30 refereed scientific journal publications. He is a member of the American Dairy Science Association.
